 The season is always open for HLFSC membership. If you’re new to the club, download an application. Feel free to contact any Board Member for a friendly conversation about the club. We won’t try to talk you into anything - but you should know that our love for the club is contagious! You can also contact our Membership Chair at members@hessianlakefsc.com for more details.
HLFSC membership categories include:
- Adult Home Club Members - Member must be 18 or older and registered with U.S. Figure Skating through HLFSC; member can be active on the board and/or committees; member is eligible to vote and can participate in club events.
- Adult Member - Member must be 18 years or older and registered with U.S. Figure Skating through another club; member cannot be a board member or chair a committee but can be active on a committee; member is eligible to vote and can participate in club events.
- Junior Home Club Member - Member must be under 18 and registered with U.S. Figure Skating through HLFSC; member cannot be a board member or chair a committee but can be active on a committee; member is eligible to vote and can participate in club events.
- Junior Member - Member must be under 18 and registered with U.S. Figure Skating through another club; member cannot be a board member or chair a committee but can be active on a committee; member is eligible to vote and can participate in club events.
- Associate Member - Member may participate in regular sessions by paying the required $15 guest fee; member cannot be a board member, chair a committee or be active on a committee; member is not eligible to vote but can participate in club social events.
- Honorary Member - Member is elected to the club by a board vote; fees and registration fees are waived; member cannot be a board member, chair a committee or be active on a committee; member is not eligible to vote.
- Professional Member - Member is non-eligible under U.S. Figure Skating Rule ER4.012; participation in club events must be in accordance with U.S. Figure Skating rules.
HLFSC offers two fee structures for adult and junior membership - Full Membership which allows two days of skating each week; and One Day Membership, which allows one day of skating each week (you can choose either Saturday or Sunday). Fees posted below are applicable for the 2008-2009 season. Those under the age of 18 are eligible for Junior Membership and must have a legal guardian’s signature on the Liability Release Form. Guests are welcome for a fee of $15 per session.
All members are encouraged to become familiar with the club’s Constitution and By-Laws, as well as Ice Rules and Safety Guidelines. All members are required to own a pair of figure skates. Wearing headphones on the ice is prohibited.

U.S. Figure Skating Registration Fee
All Home Club Members must pay a U.S. Figure Skating annual registration fee at the time of their membership application or renewal. The U.S. Figure Skating registration period runs from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. The first family member’s registration fee is $40.00; subsequent family members in the same household are offered a discounted rate of $15.00. U.S. Figure Skating membership includes a subscription to Skating magazine as well as a membership card.
Testing and Skating Levels
While the Hessian Lake FSC is primarily a recreational organization, we encourage members whose interest goes beyond just fun to participate in the U.S. Figure Skating testing process as well as local, sectional and national skating events. Hessian Lake’s status as a U.S. Figure Skating member club provides each HLFSC member the opportunity to participate in tests, competitions and exhibitions.
If you choose to take the competitive skater route, you are required to participate in the testing process and will eventually compete in qualifying competitions. If you choose the recreational skater route, you can also participate in the testing process - challenging your skills and increasing your expertise, but are not required to compete.
